SUNCORPORATION acknowledges the 21st century as "environment-oriented century" and is dealing with environmental problems through corporate activities. In 2002 we established an Environmental Management Rule, encouraged our workforce to take a more proactive approach to social contribution, and built up an environmental management system. As a major part of these efforts, we obtained ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems, in July 2002. In the future SUNCORPORATION will continue to reduce the environmental impact of its operations and align itself harmoniously with the global environment.. ISO14001 The Earth Summit-the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED)-was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 1992. The Business Council for Sustainable Development, a body convened at the request of UNCED, the Summit host, recommended that the International Standards Organization (ISO) develop an international standardization system focused on the environment. Preliminary studies commenced in 1991 led to the issuance of ISO 14001 in 1996. ISO 14001 prescribes a comprehensive set of standards for the creation, maintenance, and sustainable operation of an environmental management system to reduce the environmental impact and improve the environmental performance of corporate activities.

To bring our operations into compatible balance with the global environment, we take continuous steps to reduce our environmental impact, prevent pollution, and otherwise conserve the environment in every aspect of our business

2. Environmental management
In our effort to reduce environmental impact as the group as a whole, our company has built up an environmental management system and developed medium- to long-term goals of our environmental activities. Achievements of the activities are steadily reported to the head office and used as information for continuous improvement.
